Whether you’re lighting up the night in las Vegas or enjoying the beach breeze in Hawaii, destination weddings are some of the most beautiful weddings to be a part of but it takes a lot to plan. Destination weddings are perfect romantic getaway.
Climate: Don’t let anything rain on your parade, especially bad weather. You wouldn’t want to plan a trip to Costa Rica between May and November (Costa Rica’s rainy season). Consider the time of year you want to get married and find a place that is known to be in its dry season. If you plan to have your destination wedding overseas, be mindful of the different seasons in the northern and southern hemispheres. Also for the most accurate forecast, check 10 days before the big day and always have a backup plan if your nuptials will take place outside.
Cost: Destination weddings can be cost efficient because you can have your honeymoon at the destination and the ceremony itself is a little more intimate since most or all of your guest will have to pay for their travel and hotel accommodations. There are also many all-inclusive wedding destination packages that will allow you to see your dream wedding come to life without going over your budget.
Customs: For our couples heading outside the country for their weddings, be sure to pack all of your important documents like your passport and vows. Make sure that you have copies of all your documentation as well. Speaking of documentation, if your plans are to make your marriage legal outside of the country, check the process of applying for your marriage license. If you don’t want to go through foreign policy, consider getting your marriage license before or after your destination. Getting your license before can save you valuable time and money.
Communication: Communication is always key for everything in a relationship, and it is imperative that you communicate with your guest about your destination wedding! Allow those closest to you enough time to properly prepare for your destination wedding. Give your guest at least 10-15 months to get travel arrangements together. This gives everyone involved proper time to plan and complete plans. Consider these four “C’s” when planning your destination wedding, and everything will be a breeze.
